The story of
Melissa Ann Speaks
Melissa means Honeybee in Greek. I did not choose my name, yet it was whispered into the fabric of my being long before I understood its weight—a quiet prophecy waiting for the years to crack it open.
Born of sweetness, eloquence, and truth – it held a mystery yet to unfold. This was revealed when I encountered Devorah (Hebrew) in the Book of Judges. Her name also means Honeybee and it is rooted in Devar which means Word – the Word that speaks, the Word that matters, the Word that breathes life into the dry and barren places. To carry this name is to bear a dual inheritance: the bee speaks sometimes with a sting, but that word becomes honey and heals.
For years, I wandered through the debris of words that wounded. Words flung in fury, words wept into the dark, demanding I shrink. But a bee does not live to shrink; a bee lives to build. And a hive is never raised in isolation. It is spun cell by cell, sister by sister, a honeycomb of collective survival.
Within this name rests a stinger. I have learned that love is not always soft, and the truth must sometimes wound just enough to wake the sleeping soul. Devorah was a prophetess, a judge under the palm tree, a woman whose life was the Word.
Melissa Ann Speaks is a record of a soul finding it’s voice, turning bitter pollen into liquid gold. A place of healing, restoration and shelter from life’s storms.
