Not Mad!
You diagnose me
Try to impose on me
A narrative that’s
Your imperative
You hid your past
It was revealed fast
Barely a few months in
The challenges begin
You listened at first
Pretended to share
An understanding
Of all that I lay bare
The same words later
Used as a weapon
Confession
Depression
Make me weep
Without a peep
No remorse
You are the cause
The constant stirrer of my pain
Refusing to look within
You project
Worst still reject
All of me so self assuredly
Pretend to care
But never dare
Offer comfort
Show support
After all
It’s you who lied
Contrived a connection
Without truth or affection
More than 28 years
Still the same fears
First attractive
Now destructive
Fallen and discarded
Forever marred
Forever sad
Definitely not mad!
